Two PX plants of JX Nippon to go offstream in 2012

Japan-based, JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corp plans to conduct a planned maintenance shutdown of two of its paraxylene (PX) plants in 2012.
The PX plant located at Chita will undergo maintenance turnaround in mid-May and will restart by end of June, a JX spokesperson told fibre2fashion.
The other PX plant located at Kawasaki will be shutdown in mid-August till the end of September, 2012.
JX Nippon operates five PX plants in Japan, of which Chita and Kawasaki plants, each have a production capacity of 400,000 tons/year. The plant at Kashima has 500,000 tons/annum of PX capacity.
The plant located in Mizushima has PX capacity of 800,000 tons/year and Oita has capacity of 440,000 tons/year.
The PX plants located in Mizushima, Oita and Kashima are currently operating at normal rates, the spokesman added.
