Mr. Kamal Oswal, Vice-Chairman of Nahar Group of Industries, who has been re-appointed as the industrial adviser to the Punjab government, has been urged to take up the issues faced by Ludhiana's hosiery and textile industry with the state government.

A team of industrialists from Ludhiana led by Ludhiana Knitwear Club President Mr. Vinod Thapar made this request, when they met Mr. Oswal for congratulating him on his re-appointment.

Mr. Thapar said they expect Mr. Oswal would act as a link between the industry and the government, as in spite of Ludhiana being one of the leading hosiery industry hubs in the country, the state has not done much to aid the industry.

He urged Mr. Oswal to update the government regarding the strong need for a Knitwear Park in the city.

The need for a common exhibition hall in the city, which can be used by the hosiery industry as a common facility for organizing international exhibitions, was also raised during the meeting.

Mr. Oswal has assured the hosiery industry representatives that he would present the matter before the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Thapar said.
