Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Hanesbrands Inc. has put its historic Weeks textile plant for sale.

Mequon, Wisconsin-based real estate development firm Concord Development Group has expressed its interest in buying the 63-acre site at the plant, Hanesbrands said.

Starting as Hanes Hosiery Mills Co., Hanesbrands set up the Weeks plant in 1960, which was considered as the biggest ever manufacturing plant set up in North Carolina at that time.

However, the production at the plant was stopped 2010. Hanesbrands now uses only about one-third of the 850,000 sq ft premises for conducting research, quality control, product development and engineering activities.

About 200 people are currently employed at the Weeks plant.
