Japan's textile & garment imports from China rise

Japan’s textile and apparel imports from China have maintained stable growth of around 10 percent year-on-year during the last five years, except for 2011, when Japan’s textile and garment imports from China grew by 20.8 percent.
 
From January to May this year, Japan imported textiles and apparel worth US$ 16.9 billion, rising at a year-on-year rate of 7 percent, according to official statistics of Japan. Of which, imports from China accounted for 73 percent or US$ 12.26 billion, an increase of 4.14 percent year-on-year.
 
Japan’s textile and clothing imports from China grew at a slower pace compared to its imports from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Vietnam during the five-month period.
