Home décor retailer West Elm to open second Canadian store

Through a partnership with Etsy, the store will offer a collection of decorative accessories and art made by artists from the Vancouver area. In addition, West Elm's Fall collection and its very first Mix and Match Dining collection will be featured at the opening.

The Fall collection includes handmade crafts and one-of-a-kind discoveries collected during recent visits to Cape Town and Johannesburg that showcase the rich colour palette and varied design influences of South Africa.  New furniture, textiles, decorative accessories and gifts round out the assortment. 

The new Mix and Match Dining collection offers five table top options and four table bases in a full spectrum of materials, allowing customers to create the perfect table - from antiqued industrial to modern farmhouse style.

"We're thrilled to be opening in Vancouver's South Granville area," said Jim Brett, president of West Elm.  "With each new West Elm store our goal is to develop meaningful connections within the community.  We're particularly passionate about supporting artisans so we're excited to introduce our first local Etsy collection in Vancouver, and to celebrate our opening with Arts Umbrella, an organization dedicated to inspiring kids for life through the arts."

Many of West Elm's furniture pieces are designed to suit small, urban spaces, and an ever-increasing number of the brand's products are also marked "West Elm Green" - a label that proudly indicates responsibly produced, organic, recycled, rapidly renewable, or non-toxic products.  Like other West Elm stores, the Vancouver location has been designed using green materials including low-energy lighting, low-VOC paints and reclaimed fixtures. The Granville location will also keep inventory onsite, enabling store visitors to bring home new looks immediately or arrange for quick turnaround delivery.

As in other West Elm locations, associates at the Vancouver store will be focused on helping customers express their personal style at home.  Together they can work on space planning and customized design projects utilizing the tools available at the store's Design Lab, or in a customer's home - all free of charge.
