Russian oil major Rosneft plans to invest 173 billion roubles (approx. US$ 5.36 billion) for constructing a petrochemical complex, that will include ethylene and propylene units, in the Russian Far East, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin has said.

The plant being constructed near the city of Nakhodka, will commence operations in 2017, and it will have capacity to produce 3.6 million tons of petrochemical products per annum, the CEO said.

The new complex would house five major processing facilities, which includes an ethylene plant with a capacity of 1.4 million tons, and a propylene plant with a capacity of 600,000 tons per annum.

Rosneft plans to export around 80 percent of the output from the new plant, mainly to countries in Asia.
