Output of major Chinese textile firms rises in Jan-July

The total industrial production of over 37,000 large-scale textile enterprises in China was valued at 3.146 trillion Yuan during the first seven months of the current year, according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

The overall production value showed a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent, which was 18.8 percent less than the growth posted during the same period last year, and 3.8 percent lower than the growth in textile production witnessed in the first quarter of 2012.

Category-wise, the output of chemical fibres rose by 12.4 percent year-on-year from January to July, showing a decline of 3.8 percent compared to corresponding period of last year and 1.1 percent down compared to the growth rate posted in the first quarter of this year.

Similarly, yarn production grew 12.9 percent year-on-year during the period under review. The growth rate was 1.7 percent higher than a year earlier period, but 0.2 percent down from the growth rate posted in January-March 2012 period.

Fabric production increased 10.8 percent year-on-year during the seven-month period. However, it was 3.5 percent less compared to same period last year and 5.4 percent down from the growth rate achieved in the first quarter of this year.

The production of apparels increased 11.8 percent year-on-year during January-July period. The growth rate was 0.3 percent more compared to corresponding period of last year and 3.9 percent higher than the first quarter’s growth rate.
