China’s textile and apparel exports declined marginally by 3.35 percent year-on-year to US$ 24.6 billion in August 2012, according to Customs data.

During the month, China exported US$ 8.042 billion worth of textiles, excluding garments, showing a decline of 3.8 percent year-on-year.

From January to August this year, China’s textile and apparel exports totaled US$ 162 billion, registering a dip of 0.67 percent year-on-year.

In fact, textile and apparel exports from China have been slowing down since September last year and there has not been any significant improvement in orders received by Chinese textile enterprises since then.

Looking at the current situation, Mr. Jiang Fan, Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce in-charge of Foreign Trade, said, it is currently the peak season for Chinese textile and apparel enterprises, but they are receiving fewer orders, which shows that the Chinese textile and garment exports have reached turning point.
