MEG imports from Canada and Japan increased substantially by 802.19 percent month-on-month and 664.91 percent m-o-m, respectively, in August 2012. Singapore, South Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia were the other countries from which China imported more quantity of MEG in August compared to previous month.

The MEG imports from the US declined due to the disruption in MEG plant operations caused by Hurricane Issac. The imports from Kuwait were affected by the shutdown of Equate’s MEG plant after a fire on July 31.
