Xeros Ltd., the UK innovator responsible for the development of “virtually waterless” laundry cleaning, has set its sights on the North American commercial laundry industry, starting in New England. On August 20, 2012 the Xeros system was installed at Manchester New Hampshire’s Sterling Linen Services, a high-quality linen processing and rental service for area hotels, hospitals and restaurants.

“Our scientific breakthrough in the UK combined with forward-thinking US entrepreneurs is a great example of how our two countries can come together to lessen laundry’s carbon footprint.”

Best known for its environmentally-friendly polymer bead cleaning system, Xeros’ technology uses a fraction of the water, energy and detergent required for conventional cleaning methods, and provides significant cost-saving and environmental benefits:

•Uses up to 90% less water than traditional washing machines
•Consumes approximately 50% less chemicals than traditional methods
•Can reduce energy use up to 50%
•Patented beads capable of hundreds of washes before reaching life span, which are then collected and recycled
•UK Partners achieved superior cleaning yet water savings of 80% using 50-80% less detergent
•Minimizes carbon footprint
How it Works:

Through the use of polymer bead technology, this revolutionary cleaning process has been proven more effective than traditional “soap and water” methods. By combining the beads’ molecular structure with a proprietary detergent solution, the result is a superior cleaning medium that beats even water. The dirt from soiled items is attracted and absorbed by the beads, producing cleaner results than aqueous washing methods.

“Our scientific breakthrough in the UK combined with forward-thinking US entrepreneurs is a great example of how our two countries can come together to lessen laundry’s carbon footprint.” - Bill Westwater, CEO of Xeros Ltd.

With the first installation underway in Manchester, Xeros will introduce an official roll-out at the 2013 Clean Show to the commercial laundry marketplace, with a household sized machine in development for launch in 2014.

"We had the honor of previewing this exciting new technology to many of our 800 U.S. dry cleaning affiliates over the past two years. We believe Xeros will be embraced by our industry because of the significant cost savings and environmental benefits it brings.” - Tim Maxwell, president of GreenEarth Cleaning, the world’s largest dry cleaning brand.
