India ITME 2012 promotional road show held in Pakistan

Promotional Road Show on India’s International Textile Machinery Exhibition (ITME) 2012 was held in Pakistani cities of Lahore and Karachi.

India ITME, considered to be the second biggest textile technology exhibition in the world, is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from December 2-7, 2012.

At the exhibition, for the first time, India will be offering its textile machinery for sale to Pakistani entrepreneurs.

Hence, the organizers of India ITME 2012 conducted a pre-event show in Pakistani cities to inform and raise awareness about the exhibition, among Pakistani textile businesses.

Briefing Pakistani textile businessmen about the expo, the organizers of the event said six new products related to the textile industry will be displayed at India ITME 2012.

In addition, during the December event, Department for Chemical Technology of the Institute of Chemical Technology will be conducting a seminar on textile chemical sector, textile entrepreneurs were informed.

Speaking during the road show in Karachi, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Federal Adviser on Textile, said the textile sector accounts for about 56 percent of Pakistan’s total exports and it employs 38 percent of workers in the manufacturing sector.

He said the Government of Pakistan has identified textiles as a priority sector and is inviting private sector investment in the country’s value-added textile sector.

Pakistan Government has set an ambitious target of US$ 25 billion for its textile and apparel exports by 2014.
