Speaking about exploring new markets, Mr Roxburg reveals, “New markets are always interesting and challenging. Key to success is having excellent knowledge, a solid infrastructure in the form of great representation and proficient contractors. In the case of emerging markets such as Russia, considerable work was done in identifying the right partners who could work with the Scottish offer.
“That model required good partners who would quickly grasp the types of business that Scotland was keen to win. One successful way to achieve this was to encourage mills to visit the market and talk directly to those involved. Scottish mills work closely with the economic development agencies, which research and advise them on the appropriate strategy.
“The research also allows for a level of seeding which allowed mills to move quickly and get involved in live projects a lot earlier than anticipated. We have continued this process of investigation, identification of partners and development of infrastructure. By growing our knowledge and promoting our capabilities Scottish mills can activate business quickly and build reputation in those markets”.
Mr Flemming Nielson adds, “Swarovski is a global player and is active in 120 countries. Future markets are always changing and we are always open to the idea of expanding our activities into those we consider show promise. India, Brazil and Turkey are all emerging markets in which we are active and that we consider offer great opportunities for the future.
“We are also open to investigating new segments and as a company of inventors and creative innovators we will always be alert to the changing world markets and be ready to take advantage of opportunities that arise”, he wounds up by saying.
