China's cotton yarn imports jump in September

In September 2012, China imported 137,600 tons of cotton yarn, registering a phenomenal 62.27 percent year-on-year jump, according to customs statistics.
However, on a month-on-month basis, China’s September cotton yarn imports declined by 9.23 percent.
From January to September 2012, China imported 1,086,700 tons of cotton yarn, which is an increase of 74.17 percent or 462,800 tons over the amount of cotton yarn imported during the corresponding period of last year.
Meanwhile, cotton yarn exports from China registered 35,700 tons in September 2012, up 51.39 percent year-on-year and 17.51 percent month-on-month.
During the first nine months of the current year, China exported 320,300 tons of cotton yarn, which is 3.48 percent or 10,800 tons more than the quantity exported during the same period of 2011.
