Prices of Caustic soda flakes were steady in China in the past week ending October 27, whereas prices of Caustic soda lye showed downward trend.

Prices of Caustic soda flakes were stable due to balanced demand and supply conditions. Downstream buyers kept wait-and-see stance in an anticipation of a price decline in the near future.

Chlor-alkali plants were reported to be operating at about 70–80% of the capacity due to improvement in market conditions of by-product Chlorine. Majority of other Chlor-alkali producers in North East Asia and South East Asia were operating at nearly full capacity rates.

Prices of Caustic soda lye were stable in the initial days of October, whereas they declined by 1% w-o-w respectively in the third and fourth week of the same month.
