Teijin named to Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index

The CDLI’s constituents include companies among 500 major Japanese companies (Japan 500) that have displayed the most professional approach to climate-change data disclosure. This year, 22 constituents achieved scores in the top 10% of the Japan 500 based on responses to a questionnaire from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Questions focused on disclosure related to greenhouse gas emissions, emissions-reduction targets and risks and opportunities associated with climate change. High scores indicate good internal data management and an understanding of climate-change issues related to a company. Teijin is one of two companies selected in the materials sector.

Teijin also has been part of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index, each for four consecutive years, and is included in socially responsible investing (SRI) indexes such as the FTSE4Good Index and the Ethibel Sustainability Index.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share environmental information. CDP harnesses the power of market forces, including 655 institutional investors with assets of US$78 trillion, to collect information from companies on their greenhouse gas emissions and assess risks and opportunities regarding climate change and water. The CDP index provides an evaluation tool for institutional investors by recognizing companies with the best reporting practices and performance for the mitigation of carbon dioxide emissions and climate change.
