In this globalised context, the talk delivered at the Congress by Yves Madre, Adviser to the European Commissioner for Agriculture,DacianCiolos, attested to the importance attributed to flax by the European Commission. With Europe being the world's main flax producer, what is the best way to support the cultivation of flax?

What is the best way to protect farming that is subject to the vagaries of the weatherand to competition from naturally profitable crops?

What tools can be envisaged to stimulate supply and demand in the future? What is the role of the promotion of agricultural products in the future Post-2013 CAP?

What financial levers can be applied in times of crisis? The new CAP will offer the possibility of creating a fund, financed by firms and utilizable under certain conditions, and to which the Commission would contribute 0.65 cents for every Euro contributed by firms.
