Korean M-Xylene Dec 2012 prices up from a year ago

M-Xylene prices have been assessed in the range of US$ 1195-1290/ton (FOB Korea) in December 2012 in Korea against US$ 1160-1170/ton FOB Korea in December 2011.
Prices showed an upward trend in the first quarter of 2012 and went up by 1-2% due to robust support from the downstream market.
However, prices started declining after that and dropped by 1.5-11.5% in the second quarter due to sluggish downstream demand and poor market sentiments.
Prices have largely maintained an upward trend since then and showed 2-6% increase in the third quarter and 1-4% in the fourth quarter of the current year.
Higher upstream product prices and improved downstream buying sentiments in the region supported the price rise.
