From January to November this year, China exported synthetic fibres and industrial textile products worth US$ 34.47 billion, showing a marginal decline of 0.9 percent year-on-year, according to the latest data.

While China’s chemical fibre exports to India, Hong Kong and the EU witnessed a decline in varying degrees, its exports to the US and Asean grew at different pace.

China imported 626,600 tons of man-made fibre during the first three quarters of 2012, showing a decrease of 5.93 percent year-on-year.

Acrylic remained the top imported chemical fibre during the period. However, acrylic imports remained flat as last year’s sales at 142,100 tons.

Imports of viscose staple fibre (VSF) grew by a sharp 22.33 percent year-on-year during January to September. However, all the increase in VSF imports was from Austria.

Meanwhile, the average sales of China’s synthetic fibre industry declined during the first nine months of the current year. Sales of all major sub-sectors like nylon, polyester and viscose experienced a decline compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
