The production of man-made fibres continues to show rapid growth in China, and the country synthetic fibre output is likely to witness nearly 10 percent year-on-year growth in 2012.

During the first nine months of last year, China’s synthetic fibre production reached nearly 28.352 million tons, up 11.94 percent year-on-year.

The production of viscose staple fibre (VSF) increased sharply by 24.15 percent year-on-year, while polypropylene and nylon output rose by 17.77 percent y-o-y and 16.57 percent y-o-y, respectively, during January to September 2012.

However, polyester fibre production grew at a pace of less than 10 percent y-o-y during the nine-month period, while acrylic fibre production remained at last year’s level.

According to industry experts, China’s annual chemical fibre production is likely to reach 38 million tons in 2012, rising at nearly 10 percent year-on-year.
