Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has announced removal of restriction on import of six textiles and apparel products from China, with immediate effect.

The six items are knit-hook products based on man-made fibre, plush fabrics based on man-made fibre, male and female coats (including raincoats), shawls based on other textile materials, men's innerwear and innerwear based on other textile materials.

Taiwan has lifted restriction on import of these items, despite the follow-up negotiations on goods trade under the cross-strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) still underway.

The ECFA is a preferential trade agreement between the Governments of the People's Republic of China and Taiwan that aims to reduce tariffs and commercial barriers between the two sides.

The follow-up negotiations of goods trade under ECFA cover more than 8000 kinds of products, according to MOEA.

MOEA said it will strive to complete the follow-up negotiations by 2013-end.
