European O-Xylene trends stable-to-up since Dec

O-Xylene prices have largely maintained stable-to-up trend in Europe since December 2012.
Prices were hovering around US$ 1365-1370/ton FOB Rotterdam in the initial days of December last year, which saw a w-o-w rise of 1%, 2% and 1% in the consecutive weeks. Prices witnessed a m-o-m increase of 4% in January 2013.
O-Xylene prices were assessed at US$ 1490/ton in the week ending January 26, 2013, higher by US$ 35/ton, as compared to its previous week.
Some concerns about the availability of O-Xylene were seen in the market. Some restocking activity was noticed in the downstream market, however according to the market players, demand has not shown any significant recovery in the current year.
Market experts commented that availability of O-Xylene could become tight in Europe this year as demand for downstream products is strong.
