Two designs of decorative fabrics created by Belarusian textile firm Mogotex have been identified as the main trends of Spring/Summer 2014 at the recently concluded international textile expo Texworld USA 2013, Mogotex Director General Viktor Matiyevich told BelTA.

It was for the second time that executives and experts of the Mogilev-based firm, engaging in production of fabrics for uniforms and special apparels, garment-lining fabrics, home textile products, fabrics for raincoats and ready-made overalls for Belarus and CIS states, visited the prestigious event held in New York, together with the Belarusian delegation of textile firms.

Developing a joint policy for exporting Belarusian textiles and ready-made garments to the US was one of the key outputs of the negotiations held along the fair, Mr. Viktor said.

However, it would take one and a half to two years for their textiles and apparels to enter and gain a strong foothold in the US market. But, if the company manages to achieve this, it would gain guaranteed exports and differentiated sales, and unveil new opportunities for growth and enhanced production, he said.

He added that majority of the customers from New York who visited Mogoted at the expo showed great interest in home textiles. Some companies also inquired about the prospects of getting police uniforms ready from the Belarusian firm.

Extensive modernisation going on at the Mogotex has enabled it to produce high-quality goods which are globally competitive.

In 2012, Mogotex exported its goods to 18 countries, including Ukraine, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Poland, Finland and Serbia, with exports contributing 67 percent of the total sales.

Last year, the company’s foreign trade surplus reached US$ 45 million, while its exports crossed over US$ 70 million, which is a record, Mr. Viktor said and attributed the success to refurbishment of the company’s main production facility.

Investments made for development of the company, including Government investments, have now started delivering results, he said.

Established in 1973, the company was reincorporated as a public joint stock company in 2000.
