It was also a mixed week for skirtings.  The better Tasmania wools did well in Melbourne on Tuesday.  Wednesday saw some losses as the market eased generally, followed by gains on Thursday when the market strengthened.  Fine crossbreds eased during the week, whereas the medium and coarse types did better.  Among the oddments, locks generally picked up in price, while other types were relatively unchanged.

Buyers for China were very strong this week, while there was good support from buyers for India and Europe.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 54,543 bales are currently rostered for sale.  Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 35 and 36) are 46,200 and 52,300 bales, respectively; an increase of 4.5% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 2,500 bales in Melbourne next week.
