Spanish textile & apparel exports jump 9.1% in 2012

The exports of textile and apparels from Spain earned €10.733 billion during 2012, registering a growth of 9.1 percent year-on-year over exports of €9.838 billion made during the previous year, according to the data released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
Among sub-sectors, the exports of apparels increased by 13.4 percent year-on-year to gross €7.473 billion last year.
The overall textile and garment exports from Spain grew at a much higher pace than the total Spanish exports, which rose by 3.8 percent year-on-year in 2012.
The month of December was very positive for Spanish textiles and apparels exports, which grew by 17.1 percent year-on-year and 26.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.
During the month, Spanish textiles imports fell by 2.1 percent year-on-year, while apparel imports grew by 0.1 percent year-on-year, according to the data.
