The textile industry in China is likely to operate smoothly in 2013, as the country retains competitive advantage and mature industrial system in comparison to countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia, according to experts.

They say the textile industries in Southeast Asia and South Asia have single product structure, while China produces all kinds of textiles and garments.

Although China’s textile industry is currently facing some pressures, the majority of Chinese products have more obvious advantages in terms of quality and variety, and can compete internationally, they add.

At the same time, tightening external environment will form forced mechanisms of market, labour, resources and environment, which will bring a new round of industry adjustment, speed up elimination of outdated production capacity, focus on energy conservation and promote the whole industry to speed up transformation and upgrading.

Moreover, rapid development and wide application of Internet-related technologies, cloud computing, mobile Internet and other latest technologies will further drive the Chinese textile industry towards intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing and better service, according to experts.
