China's man-made fibre imports skyrocket in Jan'13

The imports of synthetic fibres by the Chinese textile industry increased significantly in January 2013.
China imported 40,000 tons of chemical fibres in January, showing a rise of 69.3 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Customs statistics.
In terms of value, the man-made imports were worth US$ 684 million, a year-on-year growth of 62.6 percent.
In fact, the consumption of synthetic fibres by the textile industry in China is increasing, owing to the high price of domestic cotton.
According to relevant data, the man-made fibre consumption by Chinese textile industry was 11.7 million tons in 2012, compared to actual use of raw cotton of less than 9 million tons.
Even in 2013, the Chinese textile industry is expected to continue to increase the quantity of chemical fibres consumption in textile production, according to experts.
