After the unions and employers failed to reach an agreement for yet another time, unions like CCOO and UGT have announced their decision to protest across Spain.

The wage agreement between employers and employees of the Spanish textile and clothing industry expired in December 2010 and since then several rounds of negotiations have been held.

The trade unions have already demonstrated outside the headquarters of Valencia Textile Association (Ateval) and the Spanish Federation of Apparel (Fedecon) in Madrid.

The unions have now planned to protest in front of the office of Spanish Intertextile Council (CIE) in Barcelona, according to Modaes.es

Protests are also planned at La Coruna and Zaragoza in March, followed by Castilla & Leon and Extremadura in April, the unions said.

At the last meeting between workers and employers in the textile industry held in Madrid last month, the negotiations did not focus on wage growth and CPI revisions, instead focused on labour flexibility and new classifications of professional groups.
