He has served as President of Threads In Motion International, a sewing thread distributor supplying garment manufacturers in North, Central, and South America; President of M&M Yarns, a synthetic POY distributor servicing companies in North America; and CEO of Mojo Consulting, an international consulting firm specializing in technical training and forming business relationships between domestic and foreign corporations.
In 1985, Miller became President and owner of Hickory Yarns (Hickory Dyeing & Winding Company), a specialty dyeing and finishing manufacturer that has been supplying nylon and polyester yarns to the textile industry for more than 75 years.
Whether working for an established operation or building a new company, Miller believes in constant improvement and is always working toward setting and achieving new goals. One of his favorite teachings summarizes his convictions: “It is only by reinventing ourselves and our companies each day that we secure the future for ourselves and our companies.”
The Chapin Award was established in 1958 in honor of Harold C. Chapin, professor of chemistry at Lowell Textile School, who served as national secretary of AATCC for nearly 25 years. The award is presented each year to a senior member with at least 20 years continuous membership in AATCC who has contributed outstanding service, enabling the Association to attain the objectives for which it was founded.
