China releases cotton import quotas

28 Mar '13
1 min read

Chinese textile enterprises which had applied for cotton import quotas, have now started to receive the quotas, albeit slowly.

Currently the textile mills are mainly purchasing cotton released from cotton reserves. These mills are now keenly awaiting the cotton procurement policy for 2013, which is expected to be announced by this month-end.

They are also awaiting the US cotton planting intention report to be published on March 28.

High-count yarn prices have risen in recent times, but prices of cotton yarn C21s, rayon yarn and polyester yarn prices have dipped, while other yarn prices have moved up steadily.

In recent days, orders from the domestic and global markets have recovered to a extent and even small factories are reporting receipt of good orders.
