Chinese textile and apparel expo begins in Japan

In its 17th edition, the China Fashion Fair has begun in Osaka, a business city in Western Japan.

Over 270 apparel and textile producers from 15 provinces and cities of China and a South Korean firm are exhibiting their products at 324 stalls set up on an area of around 6,000 square metres, at the expo.

Co-hosted by the Chinatex Corporation and the Japan-China Economic Relations and Trade Centre, the three-day event is on at "MyDome Osaka," a well-known indoor exhibition venue in the city center, and would run till April 18.

Owing to upgradation of technology by Chinese manufacturers over the past few years, buyers now have a wider choice of fashion-forward items with original designs as compared to previous expos being held since 2003, Xinhua quoted Chinatex Vice President Li Lan as saying.

Ms. Lan said the show is not merely an exposition of quality-based products, rather it is offering more request-based services, including business matching and product samples, which are likely to lure many Japanese buyers.

Besides, for the very first time, the organizers have also allocated a separate space at the exhibition venue for five Chinese importers who would interact with Japanese textile producers engaged in production of specialized textiles like a range of textiles for humid wet season.

Ms. Lan said in spite of a contraction in global economy in 2011, textile clothing trade between China and Japan grew by a 19.7 percent year-on-year in 2012.

According to her, the increase in China-Japan trade would further push the region’s economic growth and provide a boost to businesses and trade between the two countries.
