Contemporary Heaven launches genuine wool rugs & cushions

Each rug and cushion has been made using finest sheepskin from New Zealand or Australia in such a way that no joins are visible where one skin meets the other.

Sheepskins possess unrivalled qualities that make the genuine natural fibres a better choice than synthetic material.

Wool is soft and tactile, yet unlike many man-made materials of a similar feel , genuine wool fibre is flame retardant meaning that these soft home furnishings are flame retardant up to 600°C without the use of chemicals which may harm the environment.

In addition, wool retains natural oils which make the fibres resistant to household odours and which also help to repel dirt and grease.

Since wool is a sheep’s natural temperature control, the fibres adapt to the environment, becoming cooler on hot days and warmer on cold days. These sheepskin rugs and cushions are also highly anti-static, thanks to the properties of wool fibres.

The exterior of wool fibres is hydrophobic, but while the outside repels moisture, the interior of the fibre is hydrophilic and it is this moisture control which helps keeps static at a minimum. Synthetic fibres cannot mimic these properties and so cannot compete with the natural sheepskin, which is also hypoallergenic.

These cushions and rugs are stain resistant, so even the ivory coloured furnishings will retain their beautiful colour.

The cushions are available in taupe, linen, ivory, black and chocolate colour varieties, while the rugs are available in ivory or luscious chocolate in sizes from 2ft to 11.5ft.
