to write an article about fabrics in a magazine, and useless to run ads in non-specialized magazines. Textiles were an anonymous ingredient of fashion. Instead, it has always been King. Especially Italian textiles.

Today, we are all aware of this, so much that new markets like China have become one of the leading outlets for Italian fabrics. For “educational” reasons aimed at creating maximum awareness in public opinion, Milano Unica has committed itself to exhibiting fabrics to clients based on one elementary principle: fashion without fabric would not be fashion.

“Milano Unica Directions include the entire production present at the Fair, from women's wear to menswear, from leisure to fancy, to accessories. The most characteristic samples from textile-accessories collections will be on display in the Trend Area, a space representing a large book of illustrations to facilitate visitors during the three Milan fair days.

As always, the presentation will also be held in Prato on April 19, at the Prato Industrial Union Auditorium, to expand our range of services” concludes Massimo Mosiello, General Manager of the Fair. The next edition is scheduled for September 10-12, 2013 at the Portello in Fieramilanocity.

As for exhibitors, the registration campaign is proceeding satisfactorily: as of today, numerous firms have confirmed their participation and “we are also encouraged by a renewed consensus on behalf of both renowned trademarks and smaller firms that express our European know-how.

In addition, we have witnessed the return of well-known traditional firms like E. Boselli of Olgiate Comasco and Cotonificio Bonomi, which had skipped various editions of Milano Unica”, comments Alberto Jelmini, vice-president of Milano Unica.

Numerous exhibitors on hand, over 150 high grade professionals, along with fashion and specialized press journalists obtained information, inspiration and ideas from the presentation, which from now on will feature TWO themes instead of four.

The color card, an operative instrument exclusively reserved for exhibitors, is more centered and technical, focusing on materials and colors. At this edition, the palette will feature a horizontal and vertical cross reading, according to range and chromatism.

Pragmatically speaking, for Beauty to save the world, our industry must concentrate on renewing aesthetics to achieve the main concept of this edition: total attraction.

Therefore, two themes are proposed:
- ARISTOCRATIC TRAIT
- BARBARIAN CHARM
Colors: soften borders, invigorate daily routines, energize, meld at night

This edition focuses on:
- Puffy effects with matelassé, quilting, embossing
- Fuzzy surfaces: plush, velvet, eco-furs, pile
- Glazed, oxidized metallic luminosity
- Artistic disarray with prints and jacquards
- Revitalized historic heritage decor
- Accessories with material experimentation and sense of detail
