Cubbie Station, located in Queensland’s southern inland and Australia’s largest cotton enterprise, has harvested around 220,000-bale cotton crop this season.

This is the first harvest since the cotton enterprise was taken over by its new owners - CS Agriculture or Cubbie Ag, which is co-owned by Chinese textiler Shandong RuYi and Japanese trading company Itochu, along with Australian wool trader Lempriere Group in the ratio of 80:20.

Cotton was sown on about 21,000 hectares of field this summer at the station, situated near Dirranbandi town.

This would be the third consecutive good crop at the station, ABC Rural said quoting Cubbie chief executive officer Paul Brimblecombe.

The yield of about 10.5 bales a hectare is better than expectation, according to Mr. Brimblecombe.

The harvested cotton will be ginned at local ginners before being put for sale on the open market.
