Azerbaijan President inaugurates Textile Park in Sumgayit

Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, has inaugurated the Gilan Textile Park in Sumgayit, one of the largest cities in the country, located near the Caspian Sea, about 30 km from the capital Baku.

Set up on an area of 20 hectares, the Gilan Textile Park has weaving, dyeing and garment factories.

For the construction of the three textile units at the Park, a preferential loan of Manat 15 million was provided by the National Fund for Assistance to Entrepreneurship, which falls under the Ministry of Economic Development, according to news.az.

The new weaving factory, construction for which had begun in 2011, is equipped with machines imported from Europe, for manufacturing of a broad range of good-quality fabrics, both cotton as well as cotton/polyester. The production unit has special ventilation system to control humidity.

The President also took a tour of the dyeing unit. He was informed that the unit would use non-toxic raw materials imported from Germany. At the unit, fabrics would be washed, bleached and dyed using the latest technology.

A part of the fabric produced at the complex would be used to make garments at the garment factory located within the Textile Park.

The goods produced at the Textile Park would also be exported and preliminary agreements have already been reached with Ukraine, Italy and Russia, according to news.az.

President Aliyev also visited the lab, which would oversee quality control of both domestic and imported fabrics.

In addition, there is a separate line with a capacity to produce 18,000 blankets a month. Another separate line, for production of linen is fully automated.

The garment factory has a monthly capacity to produce 50,000 sets of menswear, womenswear, kidswear, as well as military and special uniforms that meet NATO standards.
