The center will perform activities like designing, printing and cutting of clothing patterns and evaluation of fabrics.

With a capacity to cut 100,000 garments in a day, CEDETEX is aimed at providing free school uniforms to primary schools, and also to medical, safety and sports sectors.

Mr. Lopez Valdez said that ICATSIN has become the largest professional trainer in Sinaloa and the launch of the latest textile technology centre will generate greater scope for employment. CEDETEX will benefit for more than 130 textile entrepreneurs who supply free uniforms, he added.

Secretary of Education and Culture of Sinaloa, Francisco Frias Cuauhtémoc Castro, said the new technology development center will boost the productivity in the textile industry, especially in garment processing.

Ahumada Audomar Quintero, CEO of ICATSIN, said garment manufacturers will be able to use the facility of computerized designing and cutting technology at CEDETEX, hence increasing their efficiency and production capacity along with reducing wastage of fabric by 10-30 percent.

Based in San Juan town of Sinaloa, CEDETEX will provide technical support and training to improvise the Mexican textile industry.
