Cotton yarn prices remain stable in Chinese markets

The spot price of cotton in China’s domestic market is trading in narrow range, which is providing stability to downstream cotton yarn market.

At present, the mainstream price of cotton yarn C32s is about 26,000 yuan/ton, while the price of higher grade is in the range of 26,500-27,500 yuan/ton in the main producing provinces of Shandong, Hebei and Henan. However, the shipments of cotton yarn are slow due to weak market demand.

The price of polyester staple fibre is stable in Chinese market in recent time. Although the market showed slight fluctuations earlier, it had less impact on downstream market, and the overall market of polyester/cotton yarn is basically stable.

Currently, the mainstream price of T63/C35 32s yarn is 19,500 yuan/ton, and price of higher grade is around 20,000 yuan/ton. However, prices of some varieties show small fluctuations depending on inventory and demand.

The declining trend in prices of viscose staple fibre has stopped, but the price still lacks support from the downstream market, as sales of rayon fabrics are not good. Currently, the mainstream price of rayon yarn 30s is around 18,000 yuan/ton, while the price of higher grade is about 18,500 yuan/ton.
