Asian Chemical Fibre Industries Federation (ACFIF) has requested the Government of Thailand to support the country’s chemical-fibre sector.

The chemical-fibre industry is not only involved with fashion, but encourages business ventures and job opportunities in other sectors as well, the newly-elected chairperson of ACFIF, Mayuree Na Rangsilpa, said.

There are only 12 chemical-fibre producers functioning in Thailand, much lower than China’s count of 500 producers in the same sector, The Nation Thailand said quoting Ms. Rangsilpa.

The ACFIF chairperson said the Government of Thailand should help in integrating the chemical-fibre sector, maximize its value chain and promote the use of new technology.

Ms. Rangsilpa suggested that in order to develop the application of chemical fibres for industrial use, home textiles and apparel, the sector should increase the production of chemical fibre by using more innovative strategies.

The principal objective of the ACFIF is to ensure that representatives of chemical fibre manufacturers in all countries or regions in Asia will meet periodically to discuss issues of common concern, eventually leading to the creation of a new friendly and harmonious relationship in the Asian chemical fibre industry.
