Federation Nationale du Textile (FENATEX or National Federation of Textiles) will be organizing the 14th edition of the Euro-Mediterranean area textiles and clothing fair ‘Texmed Tunisia 2013’ from October 2-4 this year.

Speaking at a press conference, FENATEX president Gherab Belhassen said Texmed Tunisia is aimed at strengthening the position of Tunisia as an important textile and clothing sector centre in the Euro-Mediterranean area.

FENATEX expects both the number of visitors and the number of exhibitors to go up this year, compared to participation of 250 firms and 600 buyers in the previous edition.

The 14th edition of Texmed Tunisia would have dedicated spaces for raw materials and textile accessories; textile machinery and equipment; and fashion and fashion accessories, in addition to spaces for textiles and garments.

The new edition would also have B2B meetings, fashion shows, and the second contest for the young fashion designers newly graduated from Tunisian fashion schools.

Abdellatif Hamam, CEO of Center for the Promotion of Tunisian Exports (CEPEX), said the textile sector is important for the Tunisian national economy, and gave a call for making greater efforts to boost Tunisian textile and clothing exports in new markets, in addition to the traditional ones.
