China's textile & apparel exports grow in May'13

China’s exports of textiles and apparel registered US$ 22.97 billion during May 2013, showing an increase of 5.2 percent year-on-year, according to the data released by General Administration of Customs.
While textile exports grew at 5.3 percent year-on-year to US$ 9.71 billion during the month, clothing exports rose by 5.2 percent year-on-year to US$ 13.26 billion, the data showed.
Experts attribute the slow rate of growth of Chinese textile and garment exports in May to the rapid appreciation of the Chinese RMB against the US dollar.
From January to May 2013, China’s overall textile and apparel exports have increased by 13.79 percent to US$ 103.119 billion. Of this, textile exports were valued at US$ 41.932 billion, up 10.17 percent year-on-year, while garment exports accounted for the remaining US$ 61.187 billion, up 16.42 percent year-on-year.
