Glen Raven CEO awarded Chapman award

Allen E. Gant, Jr., Glen Raven, Inc. has been awarded the Chapman Award, named in honor of James A. Chapman, Sr., James A. Chapman, Jr. and Joseph W. Chapman of Inman Mills. 

The Chapman Award was established by the Southern Textile Association to recognize individuals for exemplary service to the textile industry. 

By vote of the Board of Governors, Allen E. Gant, Jr., President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Glen Raven, Inc. received   the Award during the STA Business Breakfast Session of the Joint Meeting of the STA and Fiber Buyer Groups at The Wild Dunes Resort.  The Award was presented by Rob Chapman, President and CEO of Inman Mills.

Gant, who attended the University of North Carolina and was honored with a Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Elon University, is currently active in a number of business, professional, and non-profit organizations, including Chairman of the Institute of Textile Technology, the Board of Trustees for Elon University, Board of Trustees of Alamance County Regional Medical Center, Board of Directors of the Alamance County Economic Development Foundation, the Wyndham Golf Championship (Honorary Chairman in 2008), Board of Directors for Piedmont Triad Partnership, Board member for Carolina Business Coalition, Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, and Founder and Chairman of New Leaf Society.

Gant is considered a global business and textile industry leader having served as a member of President Bush’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy & Negotiations (ACTPN), member of the Board of Directors of the American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition (AMTAC), TextilePAC, past Chairman and current Board member of the National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) and North Carolina Textile Foundation. 

In 2010, Gant was appointed to the U.S. Department of Commerce – Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Textile and Clothing (ITAC 13) and was recently inducted into the American Hall of Fame in addition to a number of business awards and recognitions.
