Spanish textile export price index remains positive in May

The Export Price Index (IPRIX) of Spanish textile industry showed an increase of 0.6 percent year-on-year in May 2013, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
 
The 0.6 percent increase in May is the lowest rise recorded in textiles IPRIX since April 2012.
 
The increase in textiles export price is in contrast to the change in prices of all Spanish exports, which showed a decline of 2.1 percent during the month.
 
Spanish clothing sector also remained positive on the IPRIX with a 0.5 percent year-on-year and 0.4 percent month-on-month change in May.
 
IPRIX measures the change in prices of industrial products manufactured in Spain for export to other countries, on a monthly basis.
 
The prices of textiles and apparel imports made by Spain in May 2013 also showed an increase on the Import Price Index (IPRIM), released by the INE.
 
IPRIM showed a growth of 1.2 percent year-on-year in textiles and 0.6 percent year-on-year in clothing imports made by Spain in May 2013.
 
IPRIM indicates the monthly changes in prices of industrial products imported by Spain from other countries.
