TANATEX Chemicals presents the HydrECO Concept, which entails comprehensive fluorine-free alternatives to water repellents.

Awareness impulse

Fluorocarbons are still the state-of-the-art chemistry for water repellents. But this chemistry results in undesirable discharge of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluoroctane sulfonate (PFOS) and fluortelomer alcohol (FTOH), because of their persistent, bio-accumulative and toxic properties.

These perfluorinated surfactants (PFS) are side products or unreacted raw materials in the production of fluorocarbons. The industry’s first solution to this problem was to shift from C8 to C6 FC chain length. But due to serious environmental discussions over the last couple of years about impurities and side products in these C6 fluorocarbons, a discussion about possible alternatives again arises: fluorine-free alternatives.

Fluorine free alternatives

TANATEX always provides client-centric solutions, therefore we offer the HydrECO Concept as a complementary alternative to the existing range. It offers the best of both worlds: excellent long-lasting, high water repellence and eco-friendly as it is fluorine-free. This new technology with 3D molecules ensures extreme waterproof articles even under extreme circumstances. It can be applied for endless applications such as outdoor rain-and sportswear, technical fabrics such as awnings, boat covers and outdoor furnishings.

HydrECO CONCEPT

The products in our HydrECO Concept are comprehensive fluorine-free alternatives. BAYGARD WRS is especially for synthetic fibres. The special polymers used ensure a high durable water repellent effect. On top of that the product offers a very pleasant hand feel to the fabric.

BAYGARD WRS is totally fluorine-free and does not contain any harmful substances such as heavy metals or formaldehyde. BAYGARD WRC is based on hydrocarbons and especially designed for cotton fibres and blends from cotton and synthetic fibres. This product is totally fluorine-free and is a handle improver.
