After undertaking an in-depth programme of market research and interviews with stakeholders in various sectors, the organizers of the Yarn Expo fairs have decided that Yarn Expo Zone will now be held in Shanghai starting in 2014, and will take place from 3 – 5 March.

The fair will be relocated to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, while the autumn edition will remain unchanged.

The Yarn Expo fairs have experienced continuous expansion and strong growth in recent years in terms of exhibitors, visitors and exhibition space. They are now widely seen as one of the most significant yarn and fibre fairs in China.

This is driven by the vast number of opportunities offered by the huge market demand in China. With the move to Shanghai, an ideal geographical location at the centre of the Yangtze River Delta textile manufacturing hub, there are now even more opportunities for both exhibitors and buyers to capture a share of the growing Chinese market.

The move strengthens the fair as a leading platform for the fast growing fibre and yarn marketplace

Thanks to the large numbers of international textile companies who have offices in the city and manufacturing plants in surrounding areas of Shanghai, this relocation will bring synergy effects to the industry.

“Our exhibitors have expressed a desire to gain exposure within a larger market segment in China,” said Ms Wendy Wen, the Senior General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “This show, along with the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics fair, presents exhibitors with a wider opportunity to reach out to new buyers across the yarn and fibre, and apparel fabrics and accessories sectors. Visitors and exhibitors will benefit tremendously from these fairs taking place in the same venue.”

As well as the geographical advantages, Shanghai also features modern convention and exhibition facilities and a well-established hospitality sector that caters to significant numbers of international visitors each year. Another positive aspect of the relocation is the change of date, as the first half of March is the peak sourcing time in spring.

This added convenience will lead to more opportunities for both exhibitors and buyers at the fair, and further strengthens Yarn Expo as a leading platform to one of the world’s fastest growing marketplace for fibres and yarns.

The organisers are confident that this strategic relocation will provide a higher level of service for all exhibitors and visitors, and look forward to a successful event in 2014.
