The Consultative Committee of the project ‘Improving Regional Economies and Local Development’ held its second meeting to discuss improvement in the quality of small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including textile and apparel MSMEs, in the northeastern and northwestern region of Argentina.

Held at the headquarters of Tucuman INTI, Argentina, the meeting discussed the project activities carried out so far in the region with a preliminary assessment of the results achieved and exchanged ideas on the lines of future work, reports El Siglo.

The meeting was organized by the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) and sponsored by the European Union (EU) in Argentina.

During the meeting, INTI stated that 19 missions were carried out in the northern region of Argentina during the 18 months of implementation of the project.

The first four missions of the project were aimed at identifying the specific demands and outlined action plans focusing on topics such as textile design, quality cotton fiber and textile technology, associative processes in SMEs as well as marketing textile products.

Earlier this month, the project organized a workshop on improvement in textile design, aimed at designers and organizations involved in textile production.

The workshop jointly conducted by INTI-Textiles and INTI-Missions had expert consultant Cenzano Carolina, who currently co-ordinates the INTI Textile Incubator, to mentor the participants.

The project Improving Regional Economies and Local Development forms a part of the international cooperation actions of INTI. The duration of the project is four years with total investment of €15 million equally contributed by EU and INTI.
