Far East Asian polypropylene prices swell in August

The prices of polypropylene rose in the first seven days of August in Far East Asian markets and were quoted in the range of US$ 1445-1460/ton. The rising trend is continuing from last fortnight ending July 31, when prices went up by 1 percent compared to the previous fortnight and were assessed in the range of US$ 1435-1440/ton.
 
In the Chinese domestic market polypropylene prices remained stable during the week ending August 7. However, prices had increased by 1 percent during the fortnight ending July 31 compared to the earlier fortnight, and were assessed at RMB 10770/ton.
 
In the Middle East region, too, polypropylene prices were steady during the initial seven days of the current month, but prices had shown a rising trend during July 16-31 fortnight and prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1430-1435/ton.
 
In Indian and South Korean markets too, polypropylene prices remained steady during the first seven days of August, a continuation of trend from the fortnight ending July 31. In India, prices were assessed in the range of Rs. 105-110/kg, while in South Korean market prices were quoted at around US$ 1480/ton.
 
In Europe and the US markets, polypropylene prices were offered at € 1325-1330/ton and 70-75 cents/pound, respectively, during the fortnight ending July 31.
