China-Asean textile trade rises through Pingxiang route

Pingxiang, a county-level city in the municipal region of Chongzuo in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has been the key gateway for China-Asean textile trade.

The city is bordered in the south and west by Vietnam and it borders Longzhou County in the north and Ningming County in the east.

China’s National Route 322 passes through the centre of the city. Pingxiang is also connected by the railway which continues on to Hanoi.

The city has Zhennann Pass, now named the Friendship Pass, which is considered the gateway from China to Vietnam.

Moreover, a high-speed international expressway also passes nearby the city.

All these factors have made the city an ideal destination for exports, especially textile and garment exports, to Vietnam and the Asean region.

According to Chinese customs statistics, textile and garment exports worth US$ 1.39 billion have been exported through Pingxiang from January to July 2013, showing a rise of 62 percent compared to last year.

With the implementation of the China-Asean Free Trade Area, China has began to re-export certain textile products to Europe and America through the Asean market, and more and more textile enterprises are choosing Pingxiang to export their products to the international market.

Meanwhile, Customs has also introduced non-paper-based customs clearance to ease exports of textiles and garments through Pingxiang.
