The exports of raw silk increased by 25.84 percent year-on-year to US$ 137.984 million in terms of value, and rose by 6.87 percent to 2,519.57 tons in terms of volume, during the period under review.
China exported 72.777 million metres of silk satin worth US$ 389 million from January to May 2013, showing a decline of 8.54 percent year-on-year and 5.99 percent year-on-year, respectively. Average price per metre increased by 2.69 percent year-on-year.
The country exported 51.096 million metres of Pichou, registering a decline of 14.74 percent year-on-year, but the value increased by 7.58 percent to US$ 262 million, thus showing an average price rise of 8.46 percent year-on-year.
Silk garment exports earned US$ 570 million for China during the five-month period, which was a sharp rise of 27.48 percent year-on-year. In terms of quantity, the country exported 154,904,800 silk garments, up 79.04 percent year-on-year.
