Spanish textile industry turnover dips in July'13

The turnover of Spanish textile and apparel sectors decreased in July 2013 on the Industrial Turnover Indices (ITI), as per data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE). New Orders Index (IEP) for textiles showed a marginal rise, while it showed a steep fall for clothing.
The July 2013 ITI Index showed textile manufacturing industry turnover declining by 0.3 percent year-on-year, after falling 3.6 percent in May and 8.8 percent in June.
On the other hand, the apparel industry turnover showed a decrease of 19.9 percent year-on-year in July 2013, after declining 1.8 percent in May and 4 percent in June.
However, compared to June 2013, both the textile and clothing indices showed positive growth in July. The textile industry turnover increased by 11.1 percent month-on-month in July 2013, while the garment industry turnover showed a rise of 24.4 percent month-on-month, according to the data.
Meanwhile, the IEP for July 2013 recorded an annual increase of 2.6 percent in the textile sector, against a fall of 19.8 percent in the clothing manufacturing sector.
