Darrell J. Turner has been appointed chief operating officer of Leigh Fibers, Inc., succeeding Keith Taylor.  Taylor, who has been with the company for 37 years, will continue to consult with Leigh Fibers and will transition to its board of directors.

Turner has spent 25 years in the energy, waste and recycled materials industries.  He comes to Leigh from Headwaters, Inc., where his positions included vice president and general manager of the Energy Services Division.

Before that he was president of Eagle North American, Inc., an environmental services firm, and held management positions with Waste Management, Inc., including technical director of the Clemson Technical Center.

“Under Keith’s leadership, Leigh Fibers has been an innovator in fiber and textile reprocessing and a pioneer in repurposing materials that would otherwise have been landfilled,” said Turner.  “I see tremendous opportunities ahead and I think we’re uniquely positioned to capitalize on them.”

“Darrell’s enthusiasm and his experience in developing new products that utilize waste products will be great assets as we write the next chapter of the Leigh Fibers story,” said Taylor, “as will his success in global business development, especially in China and South America.”
