The Changzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has recently returned a batch of English cotton yarn (100% supima cotton ring- spun yarn NE 40/1) valued at over US$ 200,000, as it found it to be sub-standard.

The batch of imported cotton yarn was supposed to be made from 100 percent American Pima long-staple cotton, used in the production of best quality high-end clothing.

In July 2013, about 845 boxes weighing 38,329.2 kg, valued at US$ 201,228.30 were shipped from Thailand to Changzhou. However, for the first time, the officials of the Changzhou Bureau found that the appearance of the goods was not compatible with the standard.

Subsequently, the samples were sent to the testing authority and the test results showed that the sample contained Upland DNA.

Based on the test reports, Changzhou Textile Inspection and Quarantine Department confirmed that the imported product quality does not meet the requirements of the contract and started procedure for returning the goods.
